Artist Statement

My sculptures are a celebration of women, capturing powerful moments in their life.
My work abstracts the female torso, guided by the curves I see in nature--
bones, rolling hills, and the beauty of the Fibonacci spirals.
Rooted in Kentucky’s landscape, I’m drawn to the arches and curves that repeat in nature.
Those curves help me abstract the female form in a way that feels natural and beautiful.
Clay is the perfect medium for creating my sculptures.
It allows me to alter the female form, but only so far.
I work very intuitively, pushing and pulling the clay quite rapidly
and slowing down as the sculpture emerges.
I hope that my work conveys a calm yet dynamic message of what
women are and their potential.
